Compete with YouTube and Spotify, the impossible challenge of BitTorrent Now
BitTorrent evolved its service “Bundle” to “Now”, a music streaming service and video funded by advertising. But the supply of content is low and the interface of the app Android questionable.
BitTorrent is not just for pirating movies: if we essentially know the file sharing protocol BitTorrent is a company that relies on the protocol of the same name to provide services. Today the brand is launching BitTorrent Now : illegal downloading of BitTorrent Point again … Now is a service all there are more legal since it is partially funded by advertising.
For the time only accessible from any computer or Android devices – iOS and Apple TV version under development – BT Now succeeds BitTorrent Bundle service that allowed artists to sell their content. Of course, all the content you’ve already purchased through the Bundle service are available without advertising.
In the manner of a Youtube BT Now offers a search engine, content suggestions and, since it’s in the DNA of Bundle, the ability to track an artist and to be notified of news concerning. In short, everything we find in others … apart from the content.
It is an understatement to say that the content is indeed not the strong point of the service: apart from some rather esoteric titles of some stars like Madonna or Thom Yorke (Radiohead frontman), BT Now only offers that of artist pieces little or not known. So difficult to make switcher crowds that can see and hear their favorite artists for free on YouTube or Spotify.
If sharp music lovers and / or looking for different content can look forward to the emergence of a parallel offer that departs content “mainstream” it is possible that this population is not sufficient to properly live such service.
