Apple breaks its iPhone sales record and beats Samsung

Apple has never sold so many iPhones as in the fourth quarter 2016. We do not know the sales of Apple Watch at the moment, those of the services are still increasing.
Disappointed by iPhone 7? Not so sure, according to numbers provided by Apple this January sales. Indeed, the company estimated to have sold 78.3 million copies of smartphones (all models combined) in the fourth quarter of 2016, which is the most important of the year. This set a new record of sales of Apple iPhone since its launch in 2007.

Another new record for Apple not in the favor of the consumer – as the iPhone has never been so expensive. It average cost $ 695, increase of 4 dollars compared to the same quarter of 2015.

With these indicators, Apple gets the luxury of running in front of Samsung to the ranking of the largest sellers of smartphones. The Korean brand has indeed sold 77.5 million smartphones during this last quarter of 2016, compared with 81.3 million the previous year, according to Strategy Analytics. A counter-performance certainly due to the absence of Galaxy Note in its range this year.

However, it is still too difficult to estimate sales of Apple Watch. They are classified as ‘other’ brand, which also includes the Apple TV, the Beats headsets and other accessories (we imagine that the Type-C USB dongles must be rising). However Tim Cook said that Apple Watch had its best quarter since its launch. However, some analyst firms, like Above Avalon, consider this figure to about 5 million copies.

On one side, if the sales of Apple’s Mac are at a rise slightly, 5.3 to 5.4 million copies year-on-year, on other side, the sales of iPad continue to fall, from $16.1 million to $13.1 million this year.
However, Apple will be able to console itself with the sales of its services, an activity that is on a strong and continuous rise year to year, in this case by 18%. That’s more than $ 7.2 billion in iCloud, Apple Music, or App Store and Apple Pay subscriptions. More than Facebook’s overall results in the third quarter of 2016 (7.01 billion). That makes Apple moving to a bigger giant of tech industry.
